Sometimes the sauce is not the gravy. Enjoy this festive holiday dish with your favorite bourbon to add the extra holiday kick that you have been missing. One for the chef, one for the dish, that’s what I always say. Take the traditional sweet potato casserole and kick it up a notch.

Ingredients

4 tbsp of butter, melted
1/4 c heavy whipping Cream
1/2 c of Bourbon (our choice)
1/3 c orange juice plus 1 tsp orange zest
1/4 c firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
3/4 – 1 c of Pecan halves

Directions

Preheat over to 350. Wash and quarter, Place in a large pot with enough water to just cover peel them by 2 inches. Bring potatoes to a boil and continue boiling until fork tender, about 15 minutes drain and transfer to a large bowl. Add unsalted butter, cream, bourbon, orange juice, orange zest brown sugar, salt and nutmeg, mash everything together with a potato mashed or electric mixer.

Spoon the sweet potato mixture into a casserole dish, top with pecan and bake 30 minutes at 350.
